Finance Department & IT Division








       Finance Department
       Cynthia Lindsay, CPA, Financial Services Director
       The Finance Department strives to demonstrate excellence
       in the level of financial services provided to our public
       customers, elected officials, and the City of Sanford
       and its departments, while maintaining prudent use of
       financial resources in compliance with all associated laws,
       regulations, and policies.  To support the mission and goals
       of the city and its departments with timely, reliable, cost-
       effective technology services and to provide assistance and
       advice in its use.
       Completed the Fiscal Year 2019 Budget process.
       First Time Recipient of the Distinguished Budget Award by
       the Government Finance Officers Association for the 2018
       budget.
       Completed the Fiscal Year 2017 Comprehensive Annual
       Financial Report and received a clean audit opinion.


       Information Technology (IT) Division

       Completed the launch of the new city website.  The website
       offers new technology to manage all city and department
       content.  The website is a constant work in progress that
       requires continuous improvements in order to provide a positive
       experience while adding value for our citizens and visitors.  The
       website overview team will continue to provide new and fresh
       online ideas and techniques.
       Completed the purchase of citywide network
       equipment to replace aging technology.
       Once implemented, the new technology will
       provide much improved network stability,
       performance, alerting, and monitoring
       capabilities.  The new solution will also provide
       a solid layer of security inside and outside our
       network.
       Completed several enhancements to the
       Financial Accounting System.  A development
       instance was implemented for quality
       assurance testing and training.  Established
       a new secure online payment system that
       provides a convenient bill payment method.
       Implemented several automated processes and
       reports that provide enhanced capabilities to
       the financial system processes.
       Implemented several Geographic Information System interactive solutions for Hurricane Irma cleanup efforts, census
       reporting data, zoning, annexations, and waste collection.  Many of these solutions are integrated with the new website.
       Established an IT security coordinator who oversees intrusion detection and prevention measures to respond to the ever
       increasing cyber security threats.
