At A Glance FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS • Sarasota County has been awarded a Certifcate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Ofcers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for fscal year ended September 30, 2019. This is the 36th consecutive year that Sarasota County has received this prestigious award. • In addition to being awarded the Certifcate of Achievement, Sarasota County was issued the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for fscal year 2020. This was the 30th year that Sarasota County has received this award. • Sarasota County has also received the award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for the eighth year. This report named the 2019 IMPACT Report: Your Guide to Popular Annual Financial Information, was designed to provide citizens with a better understanding of where Sarasota County revenues come from and how those dollars were managed and spent during the fscal year ended September 30, 2019. • The County experienced a $15.9 million (7.0%) increase in Ad Valorem Tax revenue. This gain in Ad Valorem taxes is directly related to increases in taxable assessed property values.
