OFFICE OF PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL GUARDIANS ALLIANCE JURISDICTIONAL MAP In October 2016, the Department of Elder Affairs, Office of Public and Professional Guardians, joined into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Clerk and Comptroller’s Offices of Inspector General for Palm Beach, Pinellas, Lake, Okaloosa, Lee and Polk County. In October 2017, the Sarasota County Clerk and Comptroller became the seventh Office of Inspector General (OIG) to join. The Sarasota County OIG’s jurisdiction covers Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Highlands, Okeechobee and Hardee counties. It is the responsibility of the seven Inspectors General to investigate complaints, to ensure proper care for the ward, and the appropriate accounting of the guardianship funds. 11 The Office of Inspector General performs court-ordered guardianship audits, pursuant to Florida law.
