Public hearing request by the Chatham County Board of Commissioners on a proposed amendment to a payment in lieu contract (the “Contract”) entered into between the County and NP-Briar Chapel (“BC”) under Sec. 12.3 of the County’s Compact Communities Ordinance (“CCO”).  The CCO and the Contract provide that certain funds received by the County from BC under the CCO are to be used for the construction of affordable housing or land for affordable housing.  The BOC is considering an amendment to the CCO that will expand the use of the BC funds for the following additional purposes:  (i) programs which serve victims of domestic violence and abuse, (ii) programs which serve persons with intellectual and development disabilities, and (iii) programs which are designed to meet the needs of low and moderate income residents.  If the amendment to the CCO is adopted the County and BC propose to amend the Contract to add the foregoing additional uses for the BC funds.
